Dive Destination Mauritius

Because of Mauritius amazing coral reef, this island is a very famous destination for dive and snorkel tourism. Almost the entire coast of Mauritius is surrounded by a coral reef which is in a very good order. Furthermore the crystal clear water of the Indian Ocean provides an excellent visibility under water.
The offshore coral reef of Mauritius is with a length of 160 km the largest unbroken reef of the world.
The marine fauna and flora of Mauritius consist of a huge variety of more than 1000 different species. And every year new species get discovered.
One of the most famous fishes which can be seen under water is the clownfish, the butterfly fish, different species of dolphins, sharks and eels.
The good condition of Mauritius underwater world is one competitive advantage against the other dive destinations in the world.

Diving in Mauritius is possible all year around. Except in the month January and February the sea can be quite rough because of the cyclones which are typical for this time.

Since the 80th, Mauritius promotes itself as a diving destination. Different organisations established since this time to support and promote the dive destination Mauritius. Some of them are:

Mauritian Scuba Diving Association
The MSDA is responsible for monitoring and promoting Mauritius’ underwater world. The MSDA cares among other things about the qualification, the quality and the security of the different diving schools. They proof the qualification of the instructors and whether the dive centres are following the international standards of PADI, NAUI, BSAC and CMAS. The MSDA cooperates with many international dive organisations.

The Mauritian Underwater Group
The MUG is a very active local dive club in Mauritius. Every local and foreign residents of Mauritius can join the club. The work of the MUGs consists mainly of the protection of the underwater world.
They also established the organization MMCS (Mauritian Marine Conservation Society) which is acting as a NGO to protect the marine environment.

Scuba Diving Facilities
Mauritius provides more than 100 different diving spots with all levels of difficulties. Among them are several wracks, cliffs, channels, shark diving spots and cave spots, as well as different deep dive spots with a deep up to 50 meters.
The most beautiful diving spots are located in the north of Mauritius. But the other parts also provide some first class diving spots which are worth to dive.
More than 50 different diving schools are established in Mauritius up to today.

But please check in advance if the diving school is proofed by the MSDA to ensure the quality and the security before you book your course with them.

TICABO – Diving School in Flic en Flac - Mauritius

The Ticabo diving school is a small independent diving school in the coastal resort Flic en Flac in Mauritius. The friendly team of Ticabo consist of three fully-fledged divers among them there is one dive instructor and two dive masters. Additionally one free-lance dive instructor, responsible for the PADI courses is working at Ticabo. The entire team is very well experienced in diving since many years. The passion which all team members of Ticabo spread out confers automatically on the clients.
The Ticabo diving school opened in September 2007 and since then it developed to a qualitative diving school through the excellent work of the team.
During your diving activity you will feel very well serviced and you will receive all the attention from the team.

Opening hours:
The diving school Ticabo in Flic en Flac in Mauritius is open from Monday to Saturday from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm. Usually there are taking place two dives: one at 9.00 am and one at 2.00 pm every day. If you want to go diving at other times you can also make individual appointments.

Direction:
Ticabo diving school is located on the coastal road in Flic en Flac. Head the coastal road down direction to Wolmar and you will find Ticabo just behind the Manisa Hotel opposite of the public beach.

TAMARIN OCEAN PRO DIVING - Diving School in Tamarin - Mauritius

Tamarin Ocean Pro Diving is also a small independent diving school located in the resort Tamarin in Mauritius which we would like to recommend you. Since the opening in June 2008 the diving school is situated in the water sport centre of the Tamarin Hotel opposite of the beach of Tamarin. The team of Ocean Pro Diving consist of four well experienced divers and among them is also one dive instructor. All of the team members explore the diving spots of Mauritius since many years so they will accompany you confidently on your exploration of the beautiful spots of the Indian Ocean and also train you to a proofed diver under PADI criterion.
The atmosphere of the Ocean Pro Diving is very friendly and delightful which let you feel that you are in good hands and helps you enjoy the diving excursion thoroughly.

Tamarin Ocean Pro Diving is open from Monday to Saturday from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. On Sunday and public holydays dives are available on request.
The first dive starts usually at 9.30 am. In case of the booking of two dives they will be arranged in quick succession with a small break on the boot in between.
The night dive starts at 7.30 on request.

Direction:
Tamarin is located on the main road between Port Louis and Black River. If you pass Tamarin you will see a junction in a corner just behind a bridge which crosses the Black River. Here you will find a sign to the Tamarin Hotel. Follow the small road and you will end up at Tamarin Bay where the diving school is located.

NORTH COAST

OCEAN SPIRIT – Diving School in Pereybere - Mauritius

Ocean Spirit is a small independent Diving school in the holiday resort Pereybere. This is located in the north part of Mauritius approximately 10 minutes by car from Grand Baie.
The competent, likeable and humorous team of Ocean Spirit consist of two well experienced diver instructors and two dive masters.
Since 2005 the diving school Ocean Spirit is even nominated to be one of the best 222 diving schools of the world. The main criteria for this title are the high proofed security of Ocean Spirit as well as the high level of respect and care for the environment.
The dive boot of Ocean Spirit can accommodate up to eight people. Ocean Spirit emphasise on the small diving group with a maximum number of five people to ensure a personal and individual attention to every customer.
