Flying over Mauritius

Experience Mauritius in a unique and breathtaking way. Instead of driving through the evergreen sugarcane plantations or enjoying a boat trip on the turquoise water, you can try something less touristy: discover the island and its islets from a bird’s-eye view.

Island Wings Mauritius flies sightseeing tours in microlight seaplanes. The planes are two-seaters, with one seat for the pilot and one for you, and they take off directly from the lagoon in front of the LUX* Grand Gaube hotel in the north-east. The flights range from 15 minutes (€160 per passenger) and 30 minutes (€235) to one hour down the east coast as far as Île aux Cerfs (€365), and on to 80 minutes (€435) and 100 minutes (€650); the 100-minute flight also takes you over the Underwater Waterfall of Le Morne.

On the 30-minute “Blue Hole” flight you can spot turtles and rays and, from June to September, even humpback whales. If you want to share the experience, two seaplanes can fly side by side. Island Wings also offers runway tours in conventional microlight aircraft from the Mon Loisir sugar estate airstrip near Rivière du Rempart.
